National Restaurant Awards Top 100 UK Restaurants

The list of the top 100 restaurants in the UK took a break in 2020 due to the pandemic, but it now rounds up the creme de la creme, as chosen by voters made up of chefs, restaurateurs, food writers and critics.

Taking the coveted top five slots are:

• The Angel at Hetton (also Best Gastropub),
• Core by Clare Smyth,
• Newcastle’s House of Tides
• Simon Rogan's L’Enclume.

As usual, there's a good showing for London's restaurants which make up 48 of the top 100 (slightly down on the 54 from 2019).

New London restaurants on the list include Akoko, Flor, Caractere, Davies and Brook (the highest new entry), Silo, Kol, Noble Rot Soho, Da Terra, The Guinea Grill, Maison Francois, SOLA and more besides.

More awards were also announced at a proper post-Covid party held at Allegra in Stratford. They were:

• One to Watch: The Pem
• Best Restaurant in Northern Ireland: Ox
• Best Restaurant in Wales: Ynyshir
• Best Restaurant in Scotland: Ondine Oyster & Grill
• The Sustainability Award, sponsored by Estrella Damm: Silo
• Chef to Watch, sponsored by Belazu: Tom Booton
• Chef of the Year, sponsored by Ritter Courivaud: Andrew Wong
• Restaurateur of the Year, sponsored by OpenTable: Tommy Banks
• Gastropub of the Year, sponsored by Estrella Damm: The Angel at Hetton
• Outstanding Industry Contribution: Tom Kerridge
• The Service Award, sponsored by Liberty Wines: Davies and Brook at Claridge’s
• Estrella Damm National Restaurant of the Year: Moor Hall
