Lost in the labyrinth of last week’s Speciality & Fine Food Fair, we stumbled upon a small stand that promised “100% moreishly melty, gorgeously chocolatey, ludicrously luxurious, ridiculously good fresh chocolates”. On closer inspection (and indeed tasting), we could not agree more.
(Steve) Russell and (Giles) Atwell are undisputed experts in the industry of chocolate. They were well-equipped with 30 years of hands-on experience and generations of industry insider-knowledge when tackling the question: “If everything tastes better fresh, why are people still eating long-life chocolate?”
Their Fresh Chocolate is hand-finished, and made with sustainable cocoa, just enough sugar, a drizzle of wildflower honey, a pinch of Dorset sea salt, and importantly, no palm oil. It’s replaced with fresh organic double-cream, which means the chocolate lives in the fridge - the coolness only adding to the luxurious texture and rich tastes in every piece as it melts in your mouth.
It’s decadent, deep, and yet very accessible to even the greatest chocolate sceptics. And there’s a variety of flavours – creamy milk, salted caramel, smooth dark, and even a new creamy hazelnut that’s just been released.
When I declare the phrase “the best chocolate I have ever had” when I speak about Fresh Chocolate, you might think one of three things: one, that I am easily pleased; two, that I may not have had that much chocolate in my life; or three, that I grossly exaggerate.
I can confidently say that all of those could not be further from the truth. Whether you adore all things chocolate or simply enjoy a bite from time to time, you won’t regret getting your hands on these.
You can find out more about Russell & Atwell, and indeed how to buy the best chocolate you’ll ever taste, right here. Let us know what you think!
