Held annually on the final Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle), Ardbeg Day is a global celebration of all things Ardbeg – and this year, it comes with the extra special launch of Ardcore. Inspired by the devil-may-care attitude of Ardberg fans, it offers an unconventional, distinctive, and ‘punk’ addition to the impressive Distillery portfolio.
This palate ‘punk-turing’ whisky has been created with roasted black malt – a first for Ardbeg – and is a spirit that is all about substance. Incinerated to hair-raising levels, the aniseed and dark chocolate flavours bring a complex twist to the bold notes of charcoal and sweet smoke. It’s in-your-face, daring, and devilishly delicious. A perfect drink for the only the most ‘Ardcore’ of whisky drinkers.
Well-established as a niche, cult malt, with a passionate following, Ardbeg is also widely revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts. Despite its smokiness, it is also renowned for its delicious sweetness – the ‘peaty paradox’, which lends the spirit well as an entry point to the world of alternative whisky, and that of delicious whisky cocktails.
Ardbeg Day encapsulates the same dynamic energy as the loudest event in the whisky calendar. Landing on 4th June this year, rabble-rousing fans who make it to Islay will enjoy a shindig like never before, featuring classic Rocktails, smoky barbecue, tattoo parlours and live music.
Now that sounds like a party.
Ardcore (£105) will be available to buy from 17th May from Ardbeg.com, whisky specialists, online retailers, Ardbeg Embassies and the Distillery Visitor Centre.
