Yinka Ilori launches latest artwork ‘Good Things Come to Those Who Wait’ in Picadilly

British-Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist and designer Yinka Ilori MBE showcases his vibrant public artwork ‘Good Things Come to Those Who Wait’ by transforming Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain and its historic Anteros statue into a dreamscape of possibility, presented by Art of London.

The 23-foot-tall installation features two winged horse figures inspired by Greek mythology, as the installation draws directly from the figures of Eros and Anteros, the god of requited love who famously crowns the fountain.

The stunning 23-foot-tall Pegasus sculptures are perched on bright orange and yellow plinths with inspiring messages. Ilori’s vibrant, joyful style gives the familiar Anteros statue a fresh, uplifting twist.

The pop-up is a family friendly experience as free colouring sheets with the artwork will be available online and at the artwork.
Young Ambassadors from the Greater London Authority’s youth program will be around to share local history and uncover hidden gems in the area.
Other mythology-inspired artworks will be on display at the National Gallery and Royal Academy nearby.
When: 20 - 25 August 2024
Where: Piccadilly Circus, London
