Oh Gee

South Korean chef Byung Tae Ahn is bringing his award-winning Korean fried chicken Oh Gee to London at the Hoxton Grill for a three months spicy new pop-up. The chef has won Grand Champion at the K-Chicken War, a cooking competition focusing on Korean fried chicken and has recently opened a robotic fried chicken restaurant in New Jersey called 101 Chicken. The Hoxton pop-up will showcase 101’s menu.

 

The Peacock

A new pub on Islington's high street by the Urban Pubs & Bar group (owners of Salt Yard group), on the former Wetherspoon pub The Angel, and independent pub The Junction. Named after the original pub that was there from 1564 until 1962.

 

The Lion And The Unicorn

Wetherspoon's new pub in at London Waterloo Station, a £2.8 million project, as part of the station's redevelopment plans.

 

Brother Marcus

Address: 23 Slingsby Place, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9AB

Opening Date: 4 September 2024

Brother Marcus are opening their fifth restaurant after Islington, Spitalfields, Borough and Kensington, on the former Miscusi and Prelude by Oriole pop-up space. it will focus on Eastern Mediterranean cooking, with an open kitchen and a large upstairs terrace.

 

Leydi

Opening Date: 4 September 2024

The Ennismore Hotel'snew restaurant with chef Selin Kiazim (of Oklava and Kyseri) leading the kitchen along chef Halil Simsek and Turkish bartender Kevin Patnode curating the the cocktail menu. It will be a modern Turkish restaurant bringing the all-day food culture of Istanbul to London.

 

7th Street Burger x Truffle Burger

7th Street Burger is one of New York's best burgers and they will be taking over Truffle Burger in Soho, for a transatlantic burger exchange, serving their classic smash cheeseburger with loaded fries and a special collab with Truffle Burger.

 

Undercroft

Brad Carter (of Carters of Moseley and One Star Döner in Birmingham) partners with Martin Priestnall (music publisher) to take over the crypt of St George’s Church (Grade 1 listed building). The restaurant will have a bar, an outside terrace, a wine room, a private dining room and an open kitchen, and the menu will focus on British classics.

 

Mignonette

Opening Date: 5 September 2024

Chef and restaurateur John McClements (of Ma Cuisine group and winner of a Michelin star for his restaurant in Twickenham) is opening a new French bistro on the old Restaurant 109 site.

 

Soul Mama

Address: The Gantry, 40 Celebration Ave, Stratford, London E20 1DB

Opening Date: 5 September 2024, with Soul Mama Café from 1 August

Live-music and food concept by YolanDa Brown OBE DL moves from North London to the ground floor of The Gantry hotel. The entertainment program includes jazz, soul, gospel, reggae from acclaimed performers, special concerts as part of the London Jazz Festival, fireside chats, concerts for children and comedy.

The food will be a fusion of African, Caribbean and South American cuisines inspired by mamas around the world. The executive head chef Aleando Brown trained under Gordon Ramsay and has worked with Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, Maze Grill, Sketch and The Ritz London.

 

Dang's

Good Measure

A Taiwanese subterranean bar below Daddy Bar, serving bar snacks and cocktails with a Taiwanese twist, inspired from Taipei's cocktail scene.

 

Chipotle Mexican Grill - Gloucester Road

US burrito brand opens its 20th site in London (and 30th in Europe), which will hold around 50 covers and serve Chipotle's signature menu of burritos, bowls, quesadillas, tacos and salads.

Lime-through Bakery Pop-Up

Breddos x Cantina Malibu

The vibrant Clerkenwell taqueria Breddos Tacos will take over Cantina Malibu at The Ned London with their Mexican tacos from head chefs Ian Ciapara (Breddos Tacos) and Madeleine Haysey (Cantina Malibu), and Patrón Tequilafor exclusive cocktails.

 

The Emory x Tato

Argentinian bartender Renato Giovannoni ‘Tato’ (winner of the World’s 50 Best Bars Industry Icon Award in 2023 and owner of Florería Atlántico - one of Buenos Aires’ World’s 50 Best Bar) is taking over Emory Hotel 10th floor/ rooftop with his signature cocktails meaning will now be open to public as well during the pop-up.

 

Kitty Hawk

The ETM Restaurant Group own Wagtail and Aviary and are now opening their third rooftop bar on the former Bisushima space at the top of the Page 8 Hotel.

 

Dim Sum by China Tang

Sister restaurant to the renowned China Tang at The Dorchester (brainchild of the late Sir David Tang), brings the finest authentic gourmet Cantonese cuisine in delicious bite-sized parcels to the Harrods Dining Hall.

 

Maroto

Opening Date: 11 September 2024

Maroto was a bar below the recently closed Brazilian restaurant Bossa. Maroto will now be a standalone Brazilian Restaurant and Lounge Club by chefs Mark Tolentino and Mehmet Talayhan (who both worked with Ben Murphy Launceston Place in Kensington).

 

Riverside Bar and Duvale's residency at River Side East

Opening Date: 11 September 2024

Riverside East's newly styled, warm and ambient night-time cocktail bar and residency Duvale’s, run by Chef Jamie Duvale (previously worked for Claude Bosi, Anton Edelmann and as head chef at The Ramsay Group). The menu is focussed on British ingredients, minimal waste, classic flavours with a modern twist and sustainable practices, with dishes such as Venison Tartare, Steak Bavette and Tiramisu.

 

Café Francois

Maison Francois are now opening a brasserie, patisserie, deli and bakery. Expect pastries, sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, roast pork belly banh mis and lobster frites.

 

Sesta

Opening Date: 11 September 2024

Pidgin is being replaced by Sesta, a venture by Pidgin's head chef Drew Snaith and former Pidgin GM Hannah Kowalski along with some of the rest of the Pidgin team. The menu will be based on "modern, creative takes on British and European classics" with a little Southeast Asia and live-fire cooking influence as well.

 

Home Kitchen

Chef Bryn Williams has closed his restaurant Odettes after 16 years and is replacing it with the world’s first fine dining restaurant to be staffed by homeless people, run by acclaimed Chef Adam Symonds (The Great British Menu winner) and serving a seven-course fixed tasting menu. Employees will receive full-time contracts paid above the London Living Wage, with travel expenses and pro catering training and qualifications covered.

 

The Barbary Notting Hill

Opening Date: 12 September 2024

Zoë and Layo Paskin, the Paskin siblings - the team behind The Palomar and Evelyn's Table (Michelin-starred), are opening their third restaurant, on former Maddox Gallery space, with food cooked over fire, and with a separate cocktail bar.

 

Hafiz Mustafa

Opening Date: 13 September 2024

The Istanbul sweet and dessert giant Hafiz Mustafa is coming to London, near Harrods. They have been running for over 150 years and have stores in Turkey and Dubai. The menu will include their famous baklava, rock candy, pomegranate tea, Turkish coffee and cake.

 

Pho Cafe Greenwich

Lidl opens a pop-up patisserie for London Fashion Week to sell pastries as well as the viral the Nik Bentel x Lidl Croissant bag (priced at £50), with all proceeds going to the NSPCC.

South East Asian culture Festival showcasing South East Asian chefs and street food vendors, such as APOY, Banh Mi Bay, Chick'N'Sours, Eat Lah, FiliGnliz, Hanoi Ca Phe, Kasa and Kin, Kopi House, Lahpet, Mamapen x Duck Shed, Makatcha, Med Salleh, Old Chang Kee, Phed Power, Rice Bandits, Roti King, Rangoon Sisters, Sambal Shiok, Yaay Yaay.

There will also be an Artisan Market selling an array of sauces, spices, snacks, jewellery, homewares, and accessories from across South East Asia, an Arts and Crafts Workshop to personalise pewter dishes, make lanterns for the Mid Autumn Festival, and create Batik art pieces. Children can enjoy free face painting, art activities, and craft sessions like shadow puppet and lantern making, ketupat weaving, and Sarimanok paper layering. Plus, the interactive ‘Grand Tour’ will take young explorers on a journey through South East Asia with fun quizzes and souvenir passports. Catch live DJ sets from Half East Records, traditional dances, orchestras, and pop-up performances, including a show by the Battersea Power Station Community Choir. Visitors can participate in the ASEAN Games in Malaysia Square and try traditional childhood games from different South East Asian countries. On Sunday 15th September, at The Cinema in the Power Station there will be a special screening of the 2015 Thai drama, Cemetery of Splendour.

Jason Atherton is opening a new brasserie with Irha Atherton (wife) focusing on "all things British", by Chef Dale Bainbridge (Executive Chef at Pollen Street Social). He is also due to open on Savile Row and on Bruton Place, as well as due to replace Pollen Street Social.

 

Moi et Toi

Future of Food Festival 2024

The sustainable, food-centric festival celebrating Central London’s buzzing culinary scene returns with a series of one-off foodie events, a Discovery Zone of education, and month-long offers and discounts from a selection of retailers across Regent Street and St James's.

Endo at the Rotunda

Endo Kazutoshi is reopening his Michelin star restaurant after closing it on the 15th of March for a big revamp by Kengo Kuma.

 

Calum Franklin x CUT at 45 Park Lane

Pie master Calum Franklin, formerly at Holborn Dining Room, and now owner of his own restaurant, Public House, in Paris, is doing a pop-up at Cut at 45 Park Lane in partnership with Cut's Wolfgang Puck and Elliott Grover.

 

Hovarda Canary Wharf

Sister to the Aegean restaurant Hovarda in Soho, serving Mediteranean (Greek & Turkish) inspired dishes.

 

Topa at Provisions

A Basque-themed pintxo bar inside the artisan store and bar Provisions, with head chef Simon Shand (of Shoreditch’s Leroy fame) serving Spanish cheese platters, cured meats and a specially curated wine list.

 

BAO City

Opening Date: 26 September 2024

Taiwanese group BAO London is opening its seventh restaurant on the former Ekte space in Bloomberg Arcade. It will focus on sharing plates and it will have two KTV private karaoke rooms with over 300,000 songs.

 

Tofu Vegan

Opening Date: 26 September 2024

New site after the success in Islington, Golders Green and Spitalfields, opening on the former Dim T restaurant space. The group behind it is backed by Zhang Chao of Xi’an Impression, and focuses on an entirely plant-based menu.

 

Wildflowers

Opening Date: 27 September 2024

Mediterranean inspired restaurant, wine bar & deli by chef Aaron Potter (former executive chef at Maria G's and previously head chef at Elystan Street). In the meantime he had a residency at Naughty Piglets in Brixton in May.

 

Sticks’n’Sushi Islington

Opening their twelfth restaurant, on the former Neighbourhood space. It will have a large open-plan dining room and kitchen, a lounge and bar, as well as seating outside. Crumb

NYC style cookies, 100% plant-based, by baker Amy Gastman, owner of vegan bakery Eat By Amy and formerly at Waitrose Food Magazine, and coffee by Hertfordshire-based roastery Campbell & Syme.

 

Mr Porter Steakhouse

Address: Hilton Park Lane, 22 Park Ln, Mayfair, London W1K 1BE

Opening Date: September 2024

Entourage Group brings its Amsterdam "modern steakhouse", "chic lounge" and "wine library" to London, on the former Trader Vic's space on the lower ground floor at Hilton. This will be the third Mr Porter restaurant after Barcelona, and with Ibiza to follow.

 

Junk

French burger company comes to London, on former Wonderland space, focusing on smash burgers. The desserts menu is by French brand Puffy (also owned by the same group).

 

Fonda

Opening Date: September 2024

Contemporary Mexican restaurant by chef Santiago Lastra, of the World's 50 Best and Michelin-starred Kol. this will be his second restaurant, named after a Mexican family-owned restaurant, based on family recipes, dishes from his childhood and his travels in Mexico.

 

Lina Stores Shoreditch

Opening Date: September 2024

Opening their eight London branch, after South Kensington in March, with their staple marble-top tables, plush banquettes, pistachio-green and white-striped decor. There will be another Bar Lina in the basement, a private dining room, a Formica bar with views of the kitchen serving an Italian-inspired menu.

 

Long Chim

David Thompson, the world’s most lauded Thai chef, is bringing his Long Chim casual Thai concept restaurant to London.

 

Seven North London

Address: Sircle London, Devonshire Square

Opening Date: September 2024

By Israeli chef Eyal Shani, owner of Miznon, with a branch already in Vienna and one to follow in Prague.

 

SanHao

Third restaurant in Chinatown from restaurateurs Kevin Cheong and Keng Yew Leong, the team behind newcomers YiQi and The Eight, serving traditional Chinese hand-pulled noodles, soups and pan-fried buns cooked to order.

 

De Nadas

Address: 117 Stoke Newington Church Street, London N16 0UD

Opening Date: September 2024

Argnetinian hand-shaped empanadas. Their third and biggest empanaderias in London, with a vinyl wine room, from Argentinian chef Nico Buyo and his business partner Ñako Martinez (former editor of Kerrang! Spain).

 

Three Uncles Ealing

Opening Date: September 2024

Casual Cantonese restaurants in London, specialising in Hong Kong style roast duck, char siu and crispy pork belly, opening their sixth site.

 

Boxpark Camden - Buck St Market

Address: 192, 198 Camden High St, London NW1 8QP

Opening Date: Late September 2024

Boxpark is at the risk of closing its Shoreditch site but in the meantime is opening its fourth Boxpark in London by taking over Buck Street Market village in Camden. It will have two bars and 50 food vendors including Yorkshire Burrito, Black Bear Burger, Chipsy while Philippe Conticini croissants. Boxpark also has a Boxhall venue opening in the City soon.
