Japan House is hosting ‘Looks Delicious!’ food replica exhibition

Japan House London is opening a new exhibition inspired by the uniquely Japanese phenomenon of shokuhin sanpuru – the unexpectedly realistic food replicas displayed in front of restaurants across Japan.

This vibrant exhibition explores the history, materials, processes and future potential of the craft, featuring 47 specially commissioned food replicas, that represent each of Japan's prefectures, specially commissioned from the world-leading manufacturer Iwasaki Group.

Dishes range from Okinawan goya chanpuru (bitter melon stir fry) to the indigenous Ainu ohaw (soup with salmon) from the northern island of Hokkaido.

Guests will be able to create and share a bento box of skilfully-created models of food in the interactive zone in the Gallery.

Other free events will also be available, including craft and cookery demonstrations, workshops where you can make your own food samples and talks on Japanese food culture.
