Amazónico is set to electrify Berkeley Square this February, hosting their very first Rio de Janeiro Carnival in a week-long celebration with live Brazilian bands, artists, carnival menus and an all-night takeover complete with samba dancers, DJs and an open bar on Friday 24th February.
The restaurant will be transformed with the help of Brazillian-born street artist Tarsila Schubert, who travels from São Paulo to hand-paint a floor-to-ceiling mural across the exterior, inspired by the Portuguese origins of carnival, and reminiscent of the iconic streets of Rio.
Diners will be able to enjoy six special limited-edition dishes in an exclusive menu created by Executive Chef Vitelio Reyes, featuring Feijoadinha (smoked beef and pork croquettes with black bean and cassava), Tapioca (spicy chūtoro tartar with cassava cracker and kumquat), Torrada (spiced tortilla, avocado and pineapple salad with green shiso leaves) and a sweet Pamonha Doce.
On offer are also seven colourful Rio-style cocktails specifically designed for the week, including the fruity Purpurina, and the aromatic Reina de Carnival. There will also be a twist on the classic caipirinha, Save The Jungle, made with the Brazilian, Yaguara Orgânico Cachaça, Tamarillo (a Colombian fruit), Star Anise and Lime. It’s for a good cause, too – a tree will be planted in the rainforest for each Save The Jungle sold.
The climax of the celebration will take place on Friday 24th, in an all-night party until 03:00 with a free-flowing bar from 23:00 compelte with unlimited cocktails and premium spirits. Brazilian DJs Aline Rocha and Curol headline the evening, alongside a magnetic line-up that will keep party-goers well entertained throughout the evening.
Since early November 2019, Amazónico has delighted diners with a sensory journey along the flow of the Amazon River, exploring the culinary landscape of the regions through music, lush natural décor, and distinctive flavours. For great food and drink, an infusion of all things Latin American, and indeed an immersive evening, Amazónico has rapidly become the place to be.
Amazónico’s Rio Carnival Menus and Live Brazilian Bands are available from 17th – 25th February, with the Carnival Party taking place on Friday 24th February. Tickets are priced at £120, which include the open bar from 11:00 to 03:00 – you can contact reservations@amazonico.co.uk for bookings.
