In Auguts the government set up the Eat Out To Help Out scheme, where restaurants offered a 50% discount of up to £10 per head on food and soft drinks Mondays – Wednesdays (with the government reimbursing the restaurants for the discounts), in order to encourage people to go back to restaurants tosupport the hospitality industry after a tough few months. The government hasn’t officially extended it but some restaurants have decided to keep running the offers into September, so here’s our top of the best ones.
Elliot’s – if you’re going to Ell Fresco, their new pop-up terrace, we recommend the cheese puffs and natural wines, but don’t forget to quote ‘EOTHO’ when booking.
Smokestak – our favourite BBQ joint had a 4For10 deal in August – to include starter, bun, side and pud – and it’s continuing in September but at the price of £15 so still a good deal.
Oren – in Dalston, Oren opened in October 2019 serves Mediterranean/Israeli small plates matched with natural wines.
Kricket – at Kricket Monday is the day when they knock 50% off all food and soft drinks, with no £10 cap, every Monday, at all its sites, for the rest of the year.
JKS Restaurants – in September Gymkhana, Trishna and Brigadiers, will offer a discount of 20% off food on Tuesday – Saturday (and Sunday at Trishna). Check the times when the discount applies and quote ‘Stay Eating Out’ when booking.
The Dorchester – discount apllies Mon- Weds on afternoon tea and all day dining at The Promenade and on dinner service on Wednesdays at The Grill at The Dorchester.
45 Park Lane – EOTHO offer is running throughout September at both Wolfgang Puck’s steak restaurant CUT and the new alfresco terrace CUT Out.
The Cheese Bar and Pick & Cheese – at The Cheese Bar you can get bottomless raclette for £12 and unlimited cheese & charcuterie for £20.
Tapas Brindisa – At Brindisa Battersea, London Bridge, South Kensington and Soho branches the offer includes Thursdays too but you have to quote ‘Comemos’ when booking.
Pizarro – Jose Pizarro is continuing the discount at Pizarro Bermondsey, Jose Tapas and Jose Pizarro Broadgate on Mon – Weds in September.
Boxpark – the Shoreditch, Wembley and Croydon Boxparks are offering 20% off food (max £10 person) and 20% off drinks (wine, draught pints and slushes), Mon – Weds, vendors including La Nonna, The Athenian, Eat Chay. Nanny Bill’s, Koshary Kitchen, Poptata and more.
Hot Stone – the Japanese joint in Angel is running offer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Applebee’s Fish – the Borough Market restaurant is continuing with the 50% off up to £10 per person, on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout September.
Bala Baya – you can get the discount applied to the regular menu at Bala Baya Mon – Weds in September.
Homeslice – get those 20″ pizzas for a fraction of the price at the Shoreditch, City, Marylebone and White City branches on Mon-Weds.
Barboun – the Levantine restaurant is running the discount across Weds – Sun too, so you can also get money off your weekend brunch.
Pizza East – get bargain slices at Pizza East in Shoreditch.
Manteca – are extending their special £10 menu in Septeber, to include focaccia, a choice of either in-house-made mortadella or chicken liver parfait, and a choice of pasta dish.
Shackfuyu and Flesh & Buns – the izakaya-style restaurants in Soho, Covent Garden and Fitzrovia will continue the discount, while Flesh & Buns adds Thursdays in the offer.
Arabica – both the King’s Cross and Borough Market branches of Arabica will continue the scheme throughout September.
